Mission
The Department of Science and Environmental Studies (SES) is committed to advancing excellence in science education and environmental sustainability through innovative education, achieved by rigorous, interdisciplinary academic programs that integrate theory with real-world application. Our mission is to:
- Equip pre-service and in-service science teachers to become future-ready educators with the essential knowledge, pedagogical skills and professional attitudes. The Department is committed to delivering undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across diverse disciplines, including science education. environmental science and management, and sustainable development to meet society's evolving needs.
- Advance knowledge via impactful interdisciplinary research across critical areas in science and environmental studies through generating solutions and informing policy to address complex local and global scientific and environmental challenges.
- Engage with the stakeholders in education sector, communities and industry to promote scientific literacy, environmental stewardship, and sustainable practices.
